Stirling Castle: Dominating the skyline of Stirling, this historic castle has played a major role in the turbulent history of Scotland. Cambuskenneth Abbey: An abbey was built at this beautiful location by the Augustinians in 1140 on the order of King David I. At that time, it was known as the Abbey of Saint Mary. In the late twelfth century, Cambuskenneth was home to an extensive collection of buildings and served as a resting place for the monarchs from the neighbouring Stirling Castle. However, all that is left today is the bell tower that was repaired in 1860. The main building has fallen into ruins but visitors can still view its outline.
